Today is officially the last day of the Festiwall in Ragusa, Italy. With the main purpose of beautifying the public space and transform the Sicilian city into an open-air gallery where walls and artists are the main characters, the people of the community have a beautiful response and this bring them all together.
We will miss Ragusa, their beautiful people, the streets, the warmest smiles everyday, accompanied by a nice bounjiorno. We definitely had a crush–colpo di fulmine! with the food. THE FOOOOOOOOOD! all of this made us feel like home.
There are still three more murals to unveil, but the second one is by French artist Zoerism
In his words “In this old gas station I wanted to make something connected to the place. The wall is located in a corner where four streets converge, and that is why I chose to paint a large machine that is thrown out of traffic. If you see carefully, you can see the car instead of the engine has pedals. It is a toy, which immediately creates a link with the dreamy and playful aspect of our childhood. On the right side, there is a reference to vintage advertising posters, old print techniques and old lettering.”
The wall is visible from different perspectives and also from the bridge. It’s in the same perspective of the road, but slightly moved to another direction. The color is linked with natural light, that helps to make the subject to look realistic, and at same time surreal.
