If you happen to be in Paris from April 20 to 23, 2017 it is the occasion to discover the second edition of Urban Art Fair at Le Carreau du Temple & outdoor projects!
For this year’s edition, Urban Art Fair will be gathering around thirty French and international galleries specialized in urban art at « Le Carreau du Temple » in Paris. This year and for the first time, the fair will also happen in « L’Espace Commines » with an exhibition titled « Cannot be bo(a)rdered » and will display an itinerary of outdoor projects.
As an international fair entirely dedicated to urban art, the first edition of Urban Art Fair took place in 2016 at Le Carreau du Temple in Paris. Gathering 33 galleries of which 22 were French and 11 international, presenting the works of around 200 artists, this first edition attracted more than 20.000 visitors. A huge success among critics, buyers, sellers and the public, the Urban Art Fair prevailed as the rendez-vous for the urban art market.
This year, the fair will last one extra day and will welcome a selection of even more prestigious international and French galleries specialized in urban art.
Numerous galleries that exhibited last year will be back at the fair in 2017 including Galerie du jour agnès b., Galerie Ange Basso, Galerie Artistik Rezo, Galeries Bartoux, Galerie Berthéas les Tournesols, Galerie Brugier-Rigail, David Pluskwa Art Contemporain, Galerie 42b, Green Flowers Art, Joël Knafo Art, Lézarts Urbains, PDP Gallery et Galerie Wallworks for the French galleries ; Vroom & Varossieau, Urban Spree et Urban Art Gallery among the international galleries.
Twelve exhibitors will be presented for the first time at Urban Art Fair: Avenue des Arts (Hong-Kong), Galerie Bel Air Fine Art (Geneva), Art in the Game (London), Pretty Portal (Düsseldorf), Galerie Mathgoth (Paris), Openspace (Paris), NUNC ! / Critères Éditions (Paris, Grenoble), Le Grand Jeu (Paris), Galerie Géraldine Zberro (Paris), Galerie Lelia Mordoch (Paris), Galerie Saltiel (Aix-en-Provence), H Gallery (Paris).
Urban Art Fair will showcase a panorama of urban contemporary art: Cope2, Toxic, Seth, Erell, Bault, Popay, Quick, London Police, Cranio, Banksy, Keith Haring, Obey, Nowart, Monkey Bird
Numerous artists will be exhibited through group works, installations, solo shows and original collaborations, such as four hands pieces by Zenoy and Blek le Rat exhibited by Galerie Ange Basso.
Entitled «Graffiti Art Cover Collection», an exhibition organized in partnership with Graffiti Art Magazine will present around ten iconic pieces that were on the cover of the contemporary urban art magazine.
A cycle of screenings around urban art history will take place from the 21st to the 22nd of April in the Auditorium of “Le Carreau du Temple”: from the beginning of the graffiti in NYC to contemporary muralism.
Every projection (free entrance) will start with an introduction by art historian Christian Omodeo and will be followed by a conversation.
Outdoor projects: Espace Commines
Shown in Europe for the first time during Urban Art Fair, the exhibition « Cannot be Bo(a)rdered » will welcome visitors for free from April 21 until May 7, 2017 in l’Espace Commines. Using skateboards as a main medium, « Cannot be Bo(a)rdered » explores popular subcultures through the works by thirty artists and collectives from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. French artists will be invited to collaborate and enrich this exhibition.
