This week Galerie Brugier-Rigail presents the new solo show by Nick Walker ‘Unspoken Words’. With this exhibition we discover a different approach, the Vandal evolves, sometimes flirting with abstraction, in this series of encrypted works. Unspoken Words is a synthesis of his classical works and his experiments, giving us a glimpse of his inspirations.
The show will open this Thursday in presence of the artist, running until April, 14. In conjunction to the show make sure to visit the galery on Saturday March 25 @ 4pm for the book signing.
This leads to many questions… Is Nick trying to make the Vandal disappear, erase him, or replace him? Or is he simply making him evolve?
Everyone who is familiar with Nick Walker’s work have seen this recurring character. We follow him through his many journeys, or may be he is the one who accompanies us. Nonetheless, we are very attached to him. The Vandal hangs over these canvases like a silence that projects us into our own reflections.
The works that will be presented during the exhibition show us the scope of his work but also open a window on the artist’s future work . The show will showcase a phantasmagorical universe, the expression of his humour as well as his vision of the world that projects us into the limbo of our cities.
Following the Vandal’s journey the audience becomes complicit in his actions; and becomes the bad boy gentleman.
