After the overwhelming success of the first The Crystal Ship, curated by Bjorn van Poucke, the preparations for this year’s edition started in full swing!
During the first week of the Belgian Easter Holidays more than 20 (inter)national artists overtook the city and proudly presented their work to the public on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of April. Reputable names such as Axel Void, Phlegm, Alexis Diaz, Henrik Uldalen and C215 left a permanent mark on the city by the sea.
Mayor Johan Vande Lanotte commented: “With over 50.000 visitors to The Crystal Ship, we did not hesitate to invite The Crystal Ship for a second year in a row, instead of bi-annually. We want to put Ostend on the map as a European travel destination in the field of public art. We have the ambition to collect 60 works of internationally prestigious artists in our city by 2018.”
This year’s line-up included world-renowned names from a wide spectrum of contemporary and public practices.
