Recently James Reka was commissioned to paint a 2 x 7-storey towers on the front façade of the Melbourne Polytechnic in Australia. He returned to his hometown after three years working abroad to explore Australian unique wildlife and native flora and fauna.
For this mural in particular he depicts native birds sitting in Australian Gum-trees, such as an Eastern Rosella Bird and the classic Kookaburra, both sitting among gum leaves, blossoms and gum nuts that can be seen surrounded by Windsor buildings.
Reka affirms he will keep exploring more Australian elements in his upcoming murals and studio artwork. We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve.
