The city of Stockton in California recently got a makeover with the recent visit of French street and graffiti artist Astro.
Street Art Anarchy with Economic Security Project just organised a few new murals downtown. The first mural to be completed and revealed to the public was painted by Parisian artist Astro. The mural is located on the side of an historic building on the northwest corner of California and Channel streets.
The mural is based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, a theory in psychology proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper “A Theory of Human Motivation” in Psychological Review. The new mural is showing triangle forms with a repeating pattern covering the entire side of the wall. The hierarchy is made up of levels people; the goal being to attain the highest level, the artist explains. At the bottom left corner the new mural reads “Power Through Stockton”.
The artist mentioned on his IG ‘I hope this new mural will bring a message of inspiration, freedom, as well and some colours to the people of Stockton city‘.
New murals are being painted in the same area for the joy of the public. Discover more photos below!
