‘Mother and Daughter’ is the title of the two murals Reka painted during the two weeks he spent in Ukraine. He was influenced by Kiev’s unique architecture and especially the large monument ‘Mother of Motherland.’
“The two murals connect together to depict a mother’s love for her daughter. This theme has been explored through elements of female forms in motion, almost flowing like the river. The action of passing down knowledge to the next generation of Kiev.” – concluded James.
ArtUnitedUs is an international ongoing festival co-curated by Iryna Kanishcheva, Geo Leros and Waone Interesni Kazki. Their project collaborates through artistic and creative mediums with communities to raise public awareness and attention to the problem of war, aggression and violence. 200 walls will be painted during the next 2 years, starting from Kiev (The Capital of Ukraine) and without boundaries around the world.
Also, we recently talked to ArtUnitedUs curator and cultural manager, Iryna Kanishcheva, who explained a little bit of how the idea of ArtUnitedUs came up and what’s the future of the project.
